Sunshine and 60-degree temperatures set the stage for an outstanding 2008 Green Mountain Junior Baseball draft last Sunday. Players tried their hardest to demonstrate fielding and hitting skills for a slew of enthusiastic GM coaches, who charted every play on their clipboards.
At the end of the event, coach Les Willson opted to keep a core of 7 players for the 2008 season, and drafted four new members to the team. He's hoping to make a strong showing in the division this year. "It's a talented group of kids," he said. "They are all enthusiastic about playing ball and developing new skills."
Later this month the team will meet at Front Room Pizza for a get together, where the coach will introduce new members of the team and outline the player commitment for the season. The kids will also be getting their new uniforms.
